The thumbnails below are linked to larger pictures ![]() ![]() The Heights of Abraham are located above Matlock Bath opposite the high Tor. A visit comprises of a ride up in a cable car from just upstream of the Railway Station crossing the main road and rising up to the rocky spur 450 feet above. The cable car slows down halfway while the next car is loading this provides an opportunity to take in the view, but if there is a breeze the car can sway which I must say feels a little unnerving, if you are nervous of heights like me, but the kids will love it. ![]() You disembark at the Tree Tops .reception centre and restaurant. The prime features of the visit are the two show caverns, Rutland Cavern and Great Masson Cavern, both are part natural and part lead mines. A 10 minute video program provides an introduction to the caverns and the geology of the area followed by a 25 minute tour. ![]() There are also some gift shops and designer outlets on the site. The attraction provides an unusual and varied visit for the family. this can be combined with a walk around Matlock Bath and Matlock Town. these are located on the A6 south of Bakewell.
