| Please note that many of the gardens previously featured in
this section have been transferred to my new website called
Gardens-to-go.. |
his section of "Places to Go"
covers the south of England. My reason for including this selection is because
I live on the South East fringe of the London suburbs on the borders of Kent.
This means that I can reach a large part of southern England in about an hours
drive by car. The area covers Kent, Sussex and Surrey all of which have
beautiful countryside and countless attractions worthy of a visit.
The
pages describe some of my favorite places in this area of the UK that can be
enjoyed on a day out, including castles, stately homes, gardens and historical
buildings. Most offer facilities to enjoy a picnic, or if preferred many offer
cafe or restaurant facilities to enjoy a meal in comfort.
Many of the gardens warrant more than
one visit a year, as the floral and foliage displays change with the seasons,
offering different delights and photo opportunities. The colourful Autumn
displays of foliage in gardens such as Sheffield Park in Sussex, means that
visits can still be planned well into October.
Please use the links on
the left to visit a listed location, where there is a short description and
some photographs.
