Water Lane is accessed from the West Gate It passes traitors Gate, viewed from the handrails on the bottom left of the picture, see inset picture below.
The river entrance to the
tower is now referred to as Traitors Gate because of the number of prisoners
accused of treason that are supposed to have passed through it.
